It has been already 2 years ago, but I still have it in my memory as yesterday. Lagos is a really cute little city in the Algarve, just a 3 hour flight away from Amsterdam. The small city still has the lovely traditional Portuguese character with the terraces outside in the cute small streets where they serve Chicken Piri Piri. But the best reason to go here is because the beaches are really breath taking!

You really should visit Lagos once! Or twice ;) I will tell you more about the best beaches of Lagos in this blog.

Praia da Batata

This beach is the closest beach to the Lagos town centre and know as the 'town beach'. This beach is wonderfully located in between the rocks. In the back on the photo you see the historical fortress, Forte Ponta da Bandeira, this was used to guard Lagos by protecting the river mouth from attacks.

On the beach you can hire sunbeds, there are some water sports and you can book kayak tours (which I really recommend!). There are 2 beach bars to get some drinks or to have lunch.

Praia da Dona Ana

This is the beach I love the most! This beach is embraced by cliffs and rock formations in the sea, which makes you feel like you are in a picture. There is almost no wind so even on a cooler day, it is very nice and pleasant here. You can reach the beach only by the wooden steps (left on picture), so it is not suitable for disabled access. There is 1 restaurant on this beach where you can get something to drink or to eat.

Praia do Camilo

Camilo beach is a little beach but really beautiful as well! The steps down the stairs is quit a walk but the view is amazing! But also the look at the beach from the top is breathtaking. It is a wonderfully sheltered bay for swimming and is an ideal choice of beach for a breezy day. There is a restaurant on the cliffs above Camilo beach, called 'O Comilo' which is very popular with local residents because of its delicious fresh fish, and the view from this restaurant is stunning!

Praia do Porto de Mós

Porto de Mós beach in Lagos is a beautiful sandy bay with cliffs at either side. There are two beach restaurants with the

nice view and a large car park right behind the beach. Porto de Mós beach is 3.5 km from Lagos town centre.

Ponta da Piedade

The most famous about Lagos is Ponta da Piedade, it is an amazing cliff formation with stunning caves underneath the cliffs. There is a very tiny beach here, which you can only acces by boat or kayak. It really is a sight not to miss!! You can also do great hiking on the top of the cliffs, and many people go here to watch the sunset.

Meia Praia

Meia Praia is also a very popular beach. It is not a very special beach but its size of 4 kilometer, with wonderfully clean sand, turquoise blue waters, and the close distance to the city town make it a perfect choice for relaxing into the Lagos beach life! The beach is situated near the marina harbour, here are 3 nice beach bars where you can go for some drinks. Walking from the marina harbour, past the train station takes around 5 minutes to reach the western end where 3 of the beach bars are situated.

With love,
